Employee Spotlight with Wausau Field Service Supervisor, Jason
What are your day-to-day responsibilities?
I review and evaluate customer warranty claims and coordinate service tech response when needed. I also assist in using the information gathered and sent from field operations to enhance quality in production to help prevent issues from arising in future projects. In addition, I order and process quotes for replacement materials and parts for internal and external customers.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The many different people from across the business that I get to work with.
What is your proudest accomplishment in your career?
I have worked in numerous roles from estimating/sales to production. My proudest accomplishment was being part of the team that started the formal Training program for new hires at Wausau Window and spending five years as the Manufacturing Process Trainer.
What did you do prior to joining Apogee?
I served five years of active duty (1997-2002) in the Marine Corps and an additional four years (2002-2006) in the National Guard. I joined the Marines because I wanted to travel, and I got my wish. I was part of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and deployed twice for sea service (6-month deployments) along with multiple other action deployments. I was primarily in the Pacific and Indian Ocean areas (Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, and Somalia were a few of the various countries I was in).
What is something people don’t know about you?
I stream board games and role-playing games (RPGs) on Twitch every week with a couple of friends. I am a huge geek and love old school gaming. I have been playing with the same two friends for around 30 years now. We got into Dungeons & Dragons when we were kids in the 80’s and have been playing games together ever since. Now some of our children join us in various board and card games as well.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Cooking. I enjoy cooking anything and everything and my FaceBook page is filled with pictures of my dishes. Some of my recent dishes have been a black garlic beef wellington, traditional beef bourguignon with Pane con Pomodori E Cipolle Rosso (Tomato and Red Onion Bread) and Bao Buns (Chinese steamed Pork Buns). For dessert I have been experimenting with Macarons; took me a few fails but I think I have it down now.
What is your ideal vacation?
Adding stamps to my passport. I love traveling to new locales. I have been to most of the states in the US and have visited 46 different countries in my life. My next trip is a two-week trip to Ireland/Scotland next year and a trip to Iceland, with my daughter, in 3 years.
